And he still hasn't put the past behind him. Until he puts whatever issues with his ex to bed, it'll be the elephant in the room. He needs to either man up and settle the situation with his ex (whatever it may be) or you need to move on - unless you dont really want to be his focus and you're ok with his divided attention.
