Will wal-mart prosecute for petty theft if they have your plate number?

A friend of mine shoplifted at walmart today... The greeter stopped her for stealing razors and she refused to stop the greeter followed her to the car and took down her plate number. She took more items but those were not confiscated... Only the razors were given back. No police were called at the time but they do have her license plate number. She does not know if they have her on camera taking more items. The theft was under 50 dollars but she does not know if they will actually track the license plate down. Does anyone have a real answer on what may happen to her? She is no longer a minor and is very concerned... Will walmart waste their time finding her if they didn't already call the police in the first place??? Serious answers only.. I know her choices were very bad but I need a serious hypothesis right now.. She's beside herself
