How to connect my laptop to my wireless Netgear Router.?

ok so I have a netgear router. When I first got it last week, it told my I "should" set up a security code, but I didn't. My desktop and xbox 360 works fine with it. But my laptop cant seem to find it. I have a Toshiba laptop..how do i set it up?
